Advocacy
As individual analysts, most of us don’t think about it much. We should, though. As many of you might know, during the week of October 15th, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals voided the definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman in the Defense of Marriage Act as violating the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment. APsaA was among the organizations that filed amicus briefs in support of the plaintiff.
What many of you might not know is that Gary Grossman authored the APsaA position paper.
We seldom thank our colleagues for their contributions to our organization and our profession. Gary’s thoughtful, scholarly approach to the issues surrounding gay marriage has given APsaA the material it needed to advocate publicly for the betterment of our broader community.
I thank Gary for his work on behalf of our profession, our colleagues and our community.
