Library Policy Update

We are attempting to account for the SFCP library’s overdue, lost and missing items before our move to 444 Natoma Street. If you have items that are overdue, please return them to the library as soon as possible. Much staff time and library resources have been used in an attempt to retrieve our overdue and missing items. As well as being of great monetary value, these lost resources have immense intellectual value to other patrons. Many of them are out of print, of a specialized nature or are difficult to obtain elsewhere. Reluctantly, SFCP will need to move forward with an implementation of library fees in the near future in an attempt to offset the high cost of material retrieval and replacement. Please note the library’s current policy, as stated below and included on the SFCP website:

Audio-Visual Equipment Donation — by Eric Rosen, Senior Library Assistant

The Library was recently fortunate to receive a donated ¼ open reel tape deck, courtesy of a connection of Ted Dively, our technology consultant, from the estate of an engineer at the local offices of Univision, the well-known Hispanic Broadcaster. The deck is an Otari MX-55, known as an indestructible workhorse of professional audio production, and will undoubtedly be an asset to the Library's collection of technology tools for years to come. Its acquisition has enabled the Library to begin to convert its collection of historic Lectures, Scientific Meetings, and Colloquiums on open reel tape held at SFCP from 1959-1980 to digital format so that they can be enjoyed and contribute to contemporary discussions about psychoanalysis and psychiatry. Keep watching the library's web pages for further information about our archival digitization projects.
