PSYCHODYNAMIC PSYCHOTHERAPY READING LIST—APsaA WEBSITE

Two psychodynamic psychotherapy reading lists have been developed by Richard F. Summers, M.D. and Betsy Auchincloss, M.D. and are posted on APsaA’s website. Currently the URL is: http://www.apsa.org/ABOUTPSYCHOANALYSIS/READINGLISTS/tabid/203/Default.aspx

l) The Essential List, 5 pages, for residents and medical students

2) The Complete List, 20 pages, for anyone interested in the teaching or learning of psychotherapy

The lists were developed through APsaA’s Committee on University and Medical School Education and its subcommittee on residency training. It is a current list compiled for use by any programs in need of academic support in the teaching of psychodynamic psychotherapy.

PSYCHOTHERAPY SUPERVISION: SELECTED BIBLIOGRAPHY

Many of us teach in settings that do not have a psychoanalytic orientation — or are even anti-psychoanalytic. Below is a selection of papers and books found particularly helpful in such situations, compiled by Barton Blinder, M.D. He wishes to acknowledge David Goldberg, M.D., Director of Residency Training, California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco, for his consultation and contributions. For those of you who are interested in a more complete list, contact Bart Blinder at blinder@msn.com.
