Temp orarily Relocates to Make Way f or New, Expanded Offices
San Francisco , CA – December 3, 2007 – The San Francisco Center f or Psychoanalysis (SFCP) will relocate to temp orary offices at the f ormer Newcomer High School site, 2340 Jackson Street in San Francisco, on December 17, 2007. The organization is moving from its hist oric location at 2420 Sutter Street to make way f or construction of expanded new offices and meeting space during the next 18 months.
SFCP has entered into a unique profit/not-f or-profit lease arrangement with Sunrise Assisted Living C orp oration which will allow Sunrise to build a seni or housing complex at the site, while also providing a new home f or SFCP.
“We are excited that this partnership between our non-profit organization and the Sunrise C orp oration will create the Center of our dreams,” said Sandra Schaaf, Executive Direct or of SFCP. “ Sunrise will make the most of this valuable Sutter Street location and provide a 21 st Century facility f or our members to continue their analytic w ork and research.
“We are also grateful to the San Francisco Unified School District f or welcoming us and providing a temp orary location f or our offices and library f or our members,” said Schaaf.
By partnering with Sunrise, SFCP will receive a brand new headquarters office, complete with administrative offices, an expanded library, four classrooms, a private garden, and a meeting room to accommodate m ore than 125 people. The new building is expected to be completed in July 2009.
The San Francisco Center f or Psychoanalysis provides educational programs for training analysts and mental health professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area. Psychoanalysts are experienced mental health professionals, already possessing advanced degrees (MD’s, PhD’s or MSW’s), who have undergone extensive psychoanalytic training.
Additionally, SFCP offers a broad variety of arts and academic programs f or the general public, access to the largest collection of psychoanalytic publications in the Western United States, and selected mental health service eff orts such as the acclaimed Child Development Program.
