Elissa Meryl in Conversation with Patricia Ardziejewski
In our fast paced world where the demands to do more are great, it can become harder to slow down and be present with children. Children need our help, especially during transitions. In order to assist them, we also need to help parents slow down so they can be present with their experiences. Elissa Meryl and Patricia Ardziejewski have collaborated to create a group at Morning Glory Nursery for incoming parents to help them navigate this meaningful step. They will discuss how this group has been a useful tool to help families begin preschool more aware and more comfortable. In depth examples will be used to illustrate difficulties with transitions and interventions used to help children and parents.
Patricia Ardziejewski: Ms. Ardziejewski has been the director of Morning Glory Nursery since 2006, before which she worked as an assistant in the San Francisco Waldorf School's Early Childhood Program. She has been a holistic health counselor and is a Vippassana meditator. She is passionate about the practical application of spirituality in daily life. She is the mother of an 11 year old daughter.
Elissa Meryl, Psy.D.: Dr. Meryl is a clinical psychologist with a private practice in Noe Valley, SF where she works with individuals, adolescents and couples. She is the mother of two children, ages 3 and 5 and has been working with the Preschool Consultation Project for 2 years.
