THE SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS 2011 - 2012

The Scientific Meeting provides exposure to new and on-going work in psychoanalysis. SFCP members or other prominent psychoanalysts present papers in progress or recently published work on psychoanalytic theory, clinical work and applied psychoanalysis. All SFCP members, candidates, community members, and mental health professionals are welcome free of charge. The meetings take place on the second Monday of the month.

Course Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  1. Use the complex experience of fullness and psychical textures to deepen clinical work
  2. Sense the unique meaning of "muchness" as it appears with each patient and in various theories
  3. Think about managing the experience of "muchness" as it appears in the consulting room
  4. Examine the sensate and bodily experiences that shape the therapeutic encounter.
  5. Use the concepts of 'muchness'_and psychical textures to address specific patient needs, including those with severe depression, and those subjected to trauma .

LCSWs/MFTs: The San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis is a provider approved by the Board of Behavioral Sciences, Provider Number PCE623, for 2 CE credits on an hour for hour basis.

PSYCHOLOGISTS: Psychologists attending SFCP events approved for CME credits may report AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ toward their CE requirements and are now able to directly submit their verification letters at the end of each renewal cycle using the MCEP credit reporting form that can be found on the internet at: http://www.cpapsych.org/associations/6414/files/mcepaa/files/MCEP_Reporting_Form.pdf

REGISTERED NURSES: The San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis is a provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 02677, on an hour for hour basis.

SFCP is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. SFCP maintains responsibility for this program and its contents.
