Dr. German Cheung is a clinical psychologist and supervisor at the Richmond Area Multi-Services, Inc. (RAMS) Outpatient Clinic and in private practice in San Francisco. Dr. Cheung is a bicultural and bilingual therapist in Cantonese and has strong clinical interests in multicultural and immigration-related issues, severe mental illnesses, and the integration of faith and psychology. Dr. Cheung is also an Adjunct Faculty at Alliant International University - California School of Professional Psychology - Hong Kong, teaching Psychodynamic Psychotherapy to graduate-level students in Hong Kong.

Forrest Hamer, Ph.D. is a faculty member at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis, in private practice in Oakland, and a clinician at the Masonic Center for Youth and Families. Dr. Hamer has published articles on Race and Psychoanalysis. He is also a poet whose work has appeared in numerous journals and has three published collections of poems.

Course Objectives:

  1. Participants will have the opportunity to listen to and study clinical process in a case presentation.
  2. Participants will assess and compare their understanding of the clinical process from different clinical and theoretical perspectives.
  3. Participants will increase their skill in understanding how to listen to transference/counter-transference process and in formulating technical interventions.

The San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis takes responsibility for the content, quality and scientific integrity of this CME activity.

Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This credit may also be applied to the CMA Certification in Continuing Medical Education.

LCSWs/MFTs: The San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis is a provider approved by the Board of Behavioral Sciences, Provider Number PCE623, for 1.5 CE credits on an hour for hour basis.

PSYCHOLOGISTS: Psychologists attending SFCP events approved for CME credits may report AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ toward their CE requirements and are now able to directly submit their verification letters at the end of each renewal cycle using the MCEP credit reporting form that can be found on the internet at: http://www.cpapsych.org/associations/6414/files/mcepaa/files/MCEP_Reporting_Form.pdf

REGISTERED NURSES: The San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis is a provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 02677, on an hour for hour basis.

SFCP is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. SFCP maintains responsibility for this program and its contents.
