Psychoanalytic Therapy with Couples: Using Countertransference

Working with couples can be challenging, engaging and frustrating. In this workshop, we will direct attention to unconscious processes in the couple, and particularly, how the inevitable feelings and reactions the couple engender in the therapist can be used to inform therapeutic understanding and interpretation. We will use case material to illustrate unconscious processes in couple dynamics, and to show how the therapist can intervene to enhance intimacy.

Peter Klein, Ph.D., Associate, The Couples Institute, Menlo Park
